4 Ways to Date Your Spouse No Matter What

Date nights are one of the MOST important things you can do for your marriage! I seriously doubt that most couples who date each other at least weekly, experience marital issues that lead to divorce.

As a busy wifepreneur and mom of two, I know it’s not always easy to make time for date nights. There are the reasons you should, the reasons you don’t and most importantly; the reasons you CAN make time for date night no matter how busy you and your spouse are!

2 reasons you should always make time for date night

1. Date nights keep the sparks alive – Removing yourself from the often mundane routines associated with life is a great way to focus on what you love about each other as individuals. Date nights keep you connected, refreshed and in love with each other.
2. Date nights allow you to GROW together – One of my favorite things about date night is the undivided attention it allows to focus on my hubby.  After almost 10 years of marriage, I learn something new about him no matter how small.  Sometimes I even learn something about him as he’s learning it about himself! A new favorite drink, food or activity he never tried before just to name a few.

3 reasons we don’t date our spouse as often as we should

I’ve heard every excuse in the book, but there are three top reasons I believe couples don’t date each other as often as they should.

1. Don’t have time
2. Don’t have a babysitter
3. Don’t have the desire.  A lack of desire to date your spouse is a huge indicator of a deeper issue such as resentment or loss of connection
4. (I HAD to add this extra reason especially for the new moms).  When my girls were very young and I FINALLY found the time, a babysitter AND the desire to date Travis, I was too dag on tired and just wanted to use the time to catch up on sleep.  (Don’t judge me)!

4 ways you CAN date your spouse no matter what!

Date nights don’t always HAVE to be in stilettos and all dressed up! Sometimes the best date nights are in your slippers.

No matter what your circumstances are in life, you can ABSOLUTELY date your spouse every single week at least once a week!

1. Choose a favorite weekly show/ or subscribe to a service like date box. At the moment, Wednesday’s are my guaranteed date night with Travis.

2. No babysitter? No problem.  Ladies- Chic-fil-A Restaurant is the plug. Date night is not all about the location and how much money is spent.  It’s about occasionally, removing yourself from your daily environment to connect with your spouse.  Travis and I live in Charlotte, (with family members nowhere in sight)!  We have to get creative.  Trips to Chic-fil-A do the trick.  We eat together as a family and then the kids enjoy the play place long enough for Travis and me to have a quality moment to ourselves.

3. Lunch Date – Travis and I used to do this all the time and we’re working hard to get back into the routine of visiting each other for lunch. During the lunch hour, your kids are at school or daycare so there’s no need to worry about daycare.  If you and your hubby work similar schedules and can take a lunch break at the same time, I highly encourage this as a great option to make a date happen no matter what!

4. Plan FAR in advance & secure a sitter so you can dust off your stilettos – All of the aforementioned forms of date night are great and will keep you connected, but every now and then (at least once per month), you need to dust off those stilettos and really remind hubby of why he fell in love with you!
